E-Gusto - Kesen’s New Farm-To-Table Local Market

The Kesen District has a new addition to the area, known as “E-gusto”. Located in Sumita beside the popular ramen restaurant, “Menta”, E-Gusto is a community-run shop selling fresh local meat, vegetables and baked goods. Its name comes from a common expression in the local Kesen dialect which in this instance might be best translated as “Why not (give us a try)?”

While there are a variety of goods from local producers available some of the more well-known would be “Arisu Pork” and “Eat+”. The former is a local producer in Sumita committed to providing high-quality, ethically-raised pork. The prices for pork loin, pork belly and tenderloin are comparable to supermarket chains, but the superior quality and taste of the meat speaks for itself.

Eat+, on the other hand is a story of a local resident, professionally trained in Tokyo as a pastry chef returning to their hometown to spread a little joy in everyone’s lives. While their chiffon cake is not to be missed, they also make excellent biscotti and other baked goods. Freshly-made sponge cakes for Christmas or any other special occasions can also be ordered.

E-Gusto has something for everyone looking for fresh, farm-to-table foods or high-quality, handmade woodwork and other crafts. The shop is open most days from 10AM to 7PM and located along highway 107 in the Setamai area of Sumita.
